ODWC biologists with the Paddlefish Research Center have transported small young male paddlefish from record-breaking Keystone Lake to Grand Lake. This transportation of spawning specimens will improve the genetics of future generations of paddlefish within Grand Lake and diversify the stock overall. Transported paddlefish have been marked with a green band. Anglers are encouraged to put back green-banded paddlefish to help the population improve even further.
In collaboration with US Fish and Wildlife Service and Kansas Parks and Tourism, ODWC has also collected broodstock from Keystone and the progeny will be stocked in a Kansas reservoir upstream of Grand Lake. #AlwaysOpen
